The Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments kicked off the 50th anniversary commemoration year at its annual membership and awards luncheon. The keynote speaker, former HUD Secretary and San Antonio Mayor Henry Cisneros, discussed affordable housing and regional growth. COG also recognized several of the region's outstanding leaders for their achievements:
