Telework Exchange will host
their 2nd Annual Town Hall Meeting to discuss government
telework and next steps to establishing telework as a
mainstream standard operating procedure across government
agencies. This focused event brings together a diverse set
of stakeholders, including government agency telework
proponents, government telework managers, government
teleworkers, industry supporters, and affiliated
organizations – all working collectively to achieve
demonstrable progress in this area.

Director, and Senior Fellow and Deputy Director John
McClain, AICP, both of the Center for Regional Analysis at
George Mason University, will be the keynote speakers at The
HR Toolbox, a seminar cosponsored by Commuter Connections
and the Dulles Area Transportation Association on June 14,
2007 at the Hyatt Regency Reston. The free seminar - offered
from 8-10 a.m. and from noon- 2 p.m. - is designed to
acquaint human resources specialists from area companies
with available commuting alternatives that help employees
achieve a satisfactory worklife balance. The particular
focus of this seminar is Live Near Your Work, an initiative
designed to help employees identify programs that provide
financial assistance for purchasing homes closer to their

Bike to Work Seminar
for Employers -
May 21st
On Monday, May 21, the
Business Improvement
District and the Metropolitan Washington Council of
Governments will host a Bike to Work Seminar from
noon to 1:30 p.m. in the BID’s downtown offices at
1250 H Street, NW, Suite 1000. Lunch will be served.
Bicycling to work can make
your employees healthier, happier and more productive.
Bicycling has also been shown to reduce sick leave and
medical expenses. Michael Farrell of the Metropolitan
Washington Council of Governments will discuss a few simple,
low-cost steps that you can take to encourage your employees
to bike to work, ways of identifying who is most likely to
ride, the kinds of facilities you will need, and available
resources. Jim Sebastian, Bicycle Program Manager of the
District of Columbia Department of Transportation, will
discuss DC’s bicycle traffic and parking laws, bicycle
routes, and the DDOT bicycle program.

Street Smart Pedestrian
& Bicycle Safety Campaign - March 20, 2007
