VIRGINIA
The VanSave and VanStart programs are funded through Virginia rideshare agencies. The VanStart program provides financial assistance on a temporary basis to new vanpools starting to build ridership. The VanSave program provides temporary assistance to vanpools experiencing unexpected emergency loss of ridership that threatens the survival of the ridesharing arrangement.

PRINCE WILLIAM COUNTY

POTOMAC & RAPPAHANNOCK TRANSPORTATION COMMISSION (PRTC)

Personal Property Tax Relief for vans used for ridesharing purposes is offered to Prince William County residents. This encourages van owners to keep rates competitive with other modes and to purchase new vans more often.

PRTC also participates in the Van Save/Van Start Program as well as Metrochek reimbursement for vanpools.

FREDERICK COUNTY, Maryland

Frederick County's Vanpool Incentive Program provides funds to start new vanpools in Frederick County.

PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY , Maryland
Prince George’s County provides subsidies to start new vanpools in Prince George’s County.

15 PASSENGER VANS

Requirements

1. The van to be leased or purchased must have a capacity of 12-15 people.

2. The origin or destination of the commuting route must be in Prince George's County.

3. The new vanpool must begin with at least eight passengers, including the driver.

A three month subsidy program to encourage the formation of new 15 Passenger vanpools: 100% of the monthly rental fee for the first month (not to exceed $700), 50% of the monthly rental fee the second month (not to exceed $350), and 25% of the monthly rental fee for the third month (not to exceed $175).

9 PASSENGER VANS

Requirements

1. The origin or destination of the commuting route must be in Prince George's County. 2. The new vanpool must begin with a least five passengers, including the driver.

A three month subsidy program to encourage the formation of new 9 Passenger vanpools: 100% of the monthly rental fee for the first month (not to exceed $500), 50% of the monthly rental fee the second month (not to exceed $225), and 25% of the monthly rental fee for the third month (not to exceed $125).
