The Calvert Group, an investment company located in Bethesda, believes that investing in their employees is just as important as investing in socially responsible mutual funds. Employees who bike to work are given a one time reimbursement of $500 toward the cost of a bicycle and are reimbursed $120 annually for the cost of one pair of walking shoes.

"We were subsidizing people who drive to work with free parking, and realized it's not sensible to support one type of commute over another. If your goal is to improve everyone's commute, you've got to support bicycling and walking."
