Keep Your Job—Lose the Commute Seminar 

Ever wonder why you have to work so hard to get to work?  More and more commuters are discovering a smarter way to work by teleworking.  Rather than commuting to the office every day, they work at home or at one of the 17 fully-equipped area telework centers one or more days a week.To learn more about how teleworking can improve your lifestyle, while keeping your boss happy, attend one of our FREE seminars.  This seminar is sponsored by the Metropolitan Washington Council of Government, through the Commuter Connections program, and the Washington Metropolitan Telework Centers.  Seminars will be held on the following weekday evenings in October at local telework centers.  All seminars are in the evening from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.  The seminar is free.  Light refreshments will be served.

7:30 p.m. Keep Your Job—Lose the Commute                                    

This seminar will help individuals determine if teleworking  is a suitable option for  them, and if so, how to introduce or expand teleworking within their organizations.  Topics include: teleworking defined, what teleworking is NOT, trends and projections, benefits, is teleworking for you?, options, equipment, possible distractions, approaching your supervisor, getting ready to telework, successful teleworking, what if you get turned down?, and resources. Sample telework policies and agreements will be provided, as well as a home office safety checklist. 

8:00 p.m. Telework Center Tour    

The telework center director will discuss the services provided at the facility and related costs.  A tour of the facility will be conducted. Attendees will receive a copy of June Langhoff’s, “The Telecommuter’s Advisor,” and will be eligible to win a  FREE day at participating telework centers.
