Recycling at Work - Getting Recognition

How do you keep employees motivated and enthusiastic?
Here are some suggestions to keep employees motivated and enthusiastic about recycling.

There are also a number of business recognition programs that sponsor local, regional or national awards to acknowledge companies for their work in conservation, waste reduction and recycling.

Solid Waste & Recycling

American Forest & Paper Association (AF&PA) Recycling Awards Recycling Awards were created to encourage and recognize outstanding programs that promote the recovery of high quality paper for recycling. In 2008 AF&PA will recognize a business, a community, a school (K-12), and a college or university. AF&PA Recycling Award winners will be flown to New York City to receive a monetary prize and a piece of original paper art during AF&PA’s 131st Annual Paper Week. In addition, winners will be featured in national and local media outlets and on www.paperrecycles.org. The entry deadline is January 31, 2008.

WasteWise An Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) voluntary partnership program through which partners receive technical assistance and recognition for their waste reduction efforts. Telephone: 1-800-EPA-WISE (1-800-372-9473).

Virginia Recycling Association Presents recycling awards at its conference each year.

Maryland Recyclers Network Presents recycling awards at its conference each year.

Several local governments also have awards for businesses.
