Description: A unique opportunity to provide assistance to professional staff in COG's regional air quality programs. Duties include participation in air quality forecast activities, preparation of daily air quality index, data collection and analysis, database construction, and application of software and Internet utilities. Requires some weekend duties.
Main duties include collection and analysis of air quality and meteorological data for air quality forecasting and updating an existing air quality data report with the latest data. Other duties include research on issues related to energy programs and possible emission reduction strategies needed to achieve air quality, greenhouse gas, and Chesapeake Bay water quality goals.
Minimum Qualifications: Applicant should be a junior or senior undergraduate or graduate student in environmental engineering, meteorology, natural sciences, or related field. Intern must have strong quantitative, oral communication and writing skills, and proficiency MS Office and Internet application software. Applicant should be at least a junior undergraduate or graduate student enrolled in an environmental planning or a related field program. Up to 40 hours per week.
