Description | Events Calendar | Documents | Past Documents | Member List Bioterrorism Task Force - Description The Bioterrorism Task Force is a cross-disciplinary, regional task force addressing biological and chemical terrorism preparedness and response that recommends policies, procedures and standards to appropriate COG official committees in order to protect the public health and safety of the people in the metropolitan Washington area. The objectives of this task force are as follows:
The task force released the Planning Guidance for the Health System Response to a Bioevent in the National Capital Region on September 6, 2001. The Planning Guidance for the Health System Response to a Bioevent in the National Capital Region document was developed through the cooperative effort of more than 225 individuals representing key government and private elements within the national capital region (NCR) that would most likely be involved should such an event occur. COG also provides a free on-line service to enable small businesses to create their own continuity of business operations plan. Additionally, many area local governments have created resources for their citizens on emergency preparedness. For more information, please e-mail the COG Information Center at infocntr@mwcog.org.
