Regional Gang Summit

At the Regional Gang Summit, COG will bring together a diverse audience dedicated to combating gang activity in the National Capital Region. The summit will encourage approaches such as prevention, intervention and suppression to get to the root of this regional problem. Because a number of anti-gang initiatives exist in metropolitan Washington, the summit will provide an opportunity for participants to share their knowledge and promote regional cooperation.

The purpose of the summit is to offer the participants a clear overview of the clinical, legal and social implications of regional gang activity; to present successful examples of anti-gang policies and programs; and to develop a regional plan to reduce and eliminate local gangs.

Participants will choose amongst four special sessions—prevention, intervention, suppression and general information on gang activity. These sessions will pay attention to the concerns of youth, parents and community. Some of the sessions will be invitation-only and restricted to law enforcement because of the sensitive nature of their discussions.
