Program OverviewThe Health and Human Services programs are a broad range of activities that COG leads at the regional level. These include public health programs such as communicable disease control, substance abuse control, regional notification and monitoring; and human service programs such as adoption, foster care and education. These programs fall under the purview of the Human Services Policy Committee which is comprised of elected officials and social service directors and managers. They provide policy direction to committees, review and approve committee reports; develop policies that are directed to the COG Board of Directors for approval and resolution; and share areas of common concern on behalf of local governments. These policy committees recommend policy direction and action for COG staff and technical committees that will benefit local governments and their citizens.
