Program OverviewThe Health and Human Services programs are a broad range of activities that COG leads at the regional level. These include public health programs such as communicable disease control, substance abuse control, regional notification and monitoring; and human services programs focused on child welfare. These programs fall under the purview of the Human Services and Public Safety Policy Committee (HSPSPC), a COG advisory body comprised of elected officials, department managers, and directors.
It is the goal of the HSPSPC to provide the overall oversight on human services and public safety matters for the COG Board of Directors, including law enforcement, fire and emergency medical services, emergency management, corrections, animal services, public health, mental health, substance abuse programs, and child welfare.
