Coordinated Plan Update

The Human Service Transportation Coordination Task Force has updated portions of the Coordinated Human Service Transportation Plan for the National Capital Region.

The Update to the Coordinated Human Service Transportation Plan focuses on ensuring unmet transportation needs, strategies for improving service and coordination, and recommended projects are updated and current. The TPB approved the Coordinated Plan Update on December 16, 2009.

The updated Coordinated Plan is now available.

D.C. Wheelchair Accessible Taxicab Pilot Project Begins Test Phase

Yellow Cab: (202) 544-1213 www.dcyellowcab.com

Royal Cab:  (202) 398-0500

The TPB's pilot project to provide wheelchair accessible taxi service in the District of Columbia has begun a testing phase. Currently, the two cab companies participating in the pilot project -- Yellow and Royal -- will offer limited service with the new Toyota Sienna modified minivans. The companies will offer this limited service to test and address any operational issues. The full pilot with all 20 vehicles is anticipated to be officially rolled out in March.

The taxi companies and others have been working hard to ready this project to provide service. We encourage you to use this service during the trial period and let us know your experiences. Here are a few important tips to remember to make your trip easier. Your feedback on this trial service period is important. An on-line survey will be available shortly, so stay tuned for that. In the meantime, please email your concerns and commendations to tpbcoordination@mwcog.org.
