Air and Climate Public Advisory Committee

The Air and Climate Public Advisory Committee (ACPAC) advises on air quality, climate, and energy issues to policy committees of the Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments (COG). ACPAC advises the Metropolitan Washington Air Quality Committee (MWAQC) on air quality planning and the Climate, Energy, and Environment Policy Committee (CEEPC) on climate and energy issues and initiatives. Voting members are chosen by MWAQC. ACPAC, formerly known as the Air Quality Public Advisory Committee or AQPAC was established in 1993.

ACPAC provides a meaningful opportunity to provide input to local elected officials on environmental policy issues, share your knowledge and expertise, learn and stay informed of local and regional progress. ACPAC's members represent diverse community interests and opinions. Members represent communities across the metropolitan Washington region and have various backgrounds including business/industry, education/scientific, environmental/health and civic organizations. Please read the ACPAC bylaws and meeting procedures for more information. 

ACPAC currently meets virtually on the third Monday of every other month from 5:30 – 7:30 P.M. unless otherwise noted. ACPAC does not have an official public comment period (for non-ACPAC members) during its meetings. Public comments on air related issues should be directed to MWAQC’s board meetings. To observe an ACPAC meeting, virtual meeting information is provided upon request. Request for the virtual meeting information must be submitted to lboggs@mwcog.org by the Thursday prior to each meeting.

ACPAC Is Recruiting For New Members!
We are looking for residents in the metropolitan Washington region with strong interest, knowledge, and expertise in air and climate issues to serve and actively engage on the committee for one term (3 years). Recruitment is from December 5, 2025 through January 16, 2026. Complete the ACPAC Interest Form available online here by Friday, January 16, 2026.
