Foster Care Advisory Committee

The Foster Care Advisory Committee supports regional collaboration among child and family services professionals responsible for resource parent recruitment and retention across the Metropolitan Washington region. Through regular meetings and information sharing, members identify emerging trends, discuss effective practices, and develop strategies to strengthen the recruitment and retention of foster and adoptive families. The committee works to advance coordinated regional efforts to ensure children and youth in foster care have access to safe, stable, and loving homes.

Each year in May, the Foster Care Advisory Committee holds a Foster Parent of the Year Appreciation ceremony, highlighting ten outstanding resource families to acknowledge their contributions for providing supportive and loving homes for children and youth in care. The Foster Care Advisory Committee normally meets on the third Thursday of every other month.
