Technical Assistance Panels

COG provides assistance to help its local government members create vibrant and thriving Activity Centers. COG has partnered with ULI-Washington to fund Technical Assistance Panels (TAPs) in Activity Centers. TAPs provide local government awardees with tailored advice and recommendations on a particular project or location from a panel of experts from the real estate, finance, planning, transportation, engineering, and design fields. Over an intensive one-and-a-half day workshop, the panelists develop priority catalytic strategies to address a particular land use or development challenge and maximize the impacts of investment. TAPs awarded in the first year of this partnership addressed issues such as walkability and revitalization of a mall at a Metro station, land assemblage strategies at a suburban shopping center, and commercial development and placemaking along a major urban transit corridor.

The solicitation period for the next round of TAP applications will run from February 1, 2018 until April 2, 2018.
