The USMC Chemical Biological Incident Response Force (CBIRF) Basic Course (CBC) is a nine-day course of instruction that provides approximately 110 hours of classroom, practical application, and testing in CBRNE disciplines. An emphasis is placed upon qualifying the student to enter a contaminated area, rapidly package a patient, extract the patient to a decontamination line and assist if necessary on the decontamination line. Non-CBIRF students are provided basic individual and team survival skills necessary to function at a WMD event.

1. Non-CBIRF students will be assigned to classes at a rate not to exceed 5 students per class.
2. Non-CBIRF students must be physically fit. The course of instruction requires above average physical strength and physical agility. Non-CBIRF students must be pre-screened by organizations and found physically qualified for assignment to the course.
3. Non-CBIRF students must be approved medically by their command/organization for Air Purified, Powered Air Purifying, and Air Supplied Respirators.
4. Special clothing, i.e. PPE, respirators, etc. will be provided by CBIRF. Non-CBIRF students may bring their own equipment and we will work the best we can to improve the students use of their equipment.
5. Non-CBIRF students must sign a hold harmless agreement.
6. Billeting will be provided at the Downey Responder Training Facility (DRTF) day 1-4 and 8-11 at no cost. Non-CBIRF students must reside at the DRTF during weekdays and may not reside at DRTF over weekends.
7. Hot chow or Meals Ready to Eat (MRE) will be provided at a cost of approximately $67.00 for the entire training cycle and must be paid for in cash the first day of training. All students are required to eat all meals at the DRTF Monday through Friday.
8. CBIRF Corpsmen will provide routine or minor medical treatment. Medical or dental treatment requiring emergency level or hospitalization will be handled on a case-by-case basis. Indian Head does not have an emergency treatment or hospital capability on base.
9. Additional information, clothing & equipment lists, etc. will be provided when students are assigned to a class.
