The National Capital Region Incident Management Team (NCR-IMT) will be conducting a full-scale team exercise on March 4 - 6, 2008. The exercise will be conducted at the National Fire Academy/Emergency Management Institute in Emmitsburg, Maryland. The exercise will simulate a large-scale incident that continues for multiple operational periods. The simulated incident will pose operational challenges and require significant resources and formal planning, i.e., IAPs, and interaction with EOCs and Agency Administrators. The IMT will be utilizing the team's equipment cache in order to simulate deployment and set-up of this asset.
Chiefs/Directors of sponsoring or participating agencies are welcome and encouraged to attend any portion of the 3-day exercise. Regional agencies have contributed to the success of the NCR-IMT by allowing their personnel to participate in deployments, attend training classes/shadowing opportunities, and supporting requests for UASI funding. Hopefully, this advance notice will allow you to block time on your calendars to attend a portion of the exercise.
I strongly believe that the IMT enhances the capability and capacity of the region to manage large-scale complex incidents in a safe and effective manner. The IMT appreciates your continued support and requests that you allow and encourage your personnel to participate in the exercise and other training initiatives conducted by the team.
