Participants:  Federal, State, and Local Law Enforcement Agencies

Purpose:  The objectives of the event is to detect and deter terrorist-related activities on the Metro and MARC systems in Montgomery County.  This will be a similar operation as was sponsored in Sept. 2006 & Sept. 2007, and on July 7th, 2008 by the Montgomery County Police.  In each of these operations, over 160 law enforcement officers from up to 10 Federal, State, and local L.E. agencies participated in the detail.  Most of these officers participated in high-visibility uniformed patrol at the metro and MARC stations.  Other law enforcement activities were performed, but are not for public release.

Note:  There is NO intelligence to suggest that any terrorist related activity is anticipated on the METRO or MARC systems during the dates of this detail.
