The Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments is proud to present our latest training for social workers, mental health and behavioral health therapists, and other treatment providers who work with patients dealing with mental health and substance abuse disorders, entitled “Co-Morbidity in ADHD and Bipolar Illness”

As a result of completing this training, participants will be able to:      

1.       Understand the diagnostic criteria for ADHD and differentiate presenting symptoms in adults and children

2.       Understand the basic neurobiology of ADHD

3.       Become familiar with diagnostic tools available for ADHD

4.       Understand the mechanism of action in medications indicated for the treatment of ADHD

5.       Review co-morbidity of substance use disorders and Bipolar illness in ADHD; symptom overlap and treatment approach

6.       Understand the diagnostic criteria for Bipolar Illness

7.       Understand the mechanism of action in the medications indicated for the treatment of Bipolar Illness
