Nine projects to receive $2.7 million in funding through federal program. The TPB has been funding locally-developed projects for several years that make a difference in the everyday lives of people with disabilities or older adults from wheelchair accessible cabs to door through door transportation.​

District of Columbia Council Chairman Phil Mendelson, who proposed COG’s focus on infrastructure while serving as Chairman of its Board of Directors in 2014, has helped promote the effort through a variety of media appearances and interviews as well as a COG video podcast.

Alexandria Mayor Euille has served on the COG Board of Directors since 2006. The COG Board also elected its 2015 Vice Chairs-- Montgomery County Councilmember Roger Berliner and District of Columbia Councilmember Kenyan McDuffie.

Every year since 2000, COG has helped coordinate and report on the enumeration of the region’s homeless population. In 2014, the region counted 11,946 homeless people during the one-day snapshot, or “Point-in-Time” count. This year’s count is scheduled for Wednesday, January 28, and COG and local governments are seeking volunteers.
