Introducing Collaboration in Action, COG's video series hosted by Executive Director Clark Mercer. The series spotlights COG's work with member jurisdictions and private, nonprofit, and civic organizations on a wide variety of programs and initiatives that improve the quality of life for everyone in our DMV region. Come along as Clark takes you behind the scenes of several of our initiatives, spreading the word about the value of regional partnership and highlighting the leaders and experts in our network that are making a positive impact in our communities.

COG Podcast

Prior to Collaboration in Action, COG produced a podcast, Think Regionally, to raise awareness about metropolitan Washington's biggest challenges and focus on solutions. The podcast, which was hosted by former Washington Post columnist Robert McCartney, featured local government, business, and non-profit leaders talking about a variety of timely topics, including the region's economy, racial equity, transportation, housing, and climate change.

    Survey Measures Regional Homelessness in 2004

    A new report approved by the Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments (COG) Board of Directors reveals a slight increase in the number of area residents who are chronically homeless, and establishes new methods for providing better data and tracking solutions for homelessness in the region.

    An estimated 4,400 residents of the National Capital Region participated in “Bike to Work Day” to promote a healthy and environmentally-friendly commuting alternative that reduces road congestion. The event drew 1,400 more riders than it did last year.

    COG and the Freddie Mac Foundation honored hundreds of foster parents from the metropolitan Washington region during its second annual gala tribute to Foster Parent Appreciation Month in May. The event was an opportunity for elected officials to thank the many people who open their homes and give of their hearts to help children grow, achieve and become good citizens.

    MWAQC Prepares to Submit Regional Air Quality Plan to EPA

    The Metropolitan Washington Air Quality Committee (MWAQC) approved its revised air quality plan, paving the way for state air agencies to submit the plan to the Environmental Protection Agency for approval. The move followed a 30-day period for public comment that ended in January.
