Conference Overview
US EPA Region III and a number of co-sponsors will host a national Low Impact Development (LID) and Watershed Management Conference in order to continue to promote the use of LID as an effective alternative for traditional stormwater management, as well as to examine successful watershed management practices related to stream restoration. The primary purpose of the conference will be to inform practitioners throughout the country of the benefits of LID approaches and how to anticipate and address the real impediments for implementating these techniques to accelerate change in state and local stormwater management practices.

Session Topics include, but are not limited to:

Architecture of LID- Making it Look Great!
Creative Applications of LID Nationally and Internationally
Community and Neighborhood Involvement and Acceptance of LID
Impediments to using LID and Examples of Removing Those Barriers, from Public Acceptance to Regulatory Constraints
LID Education to the Owner, Real Estate and Design Communities
LID Research, Performance Monitoring, and Modeling
LID, Second Generation- Lessons Learned and Lessons not to be Repeated
Maintenance Practices for LID
Restoring the Urban Watershed: LID and Stream Restoration

The Developer Angle- Why Use LID?

Call for Papers

To be considered for the conference program, authors should submit an abstract (400 words maximum) concisely describing their project or program. All abstracts must be received by November 30, 2003. Notice of acceptance/rejection is scheduled for January 27, 2004. By submitting an abstract, a prospective presenter agrees to prepare a PowerPoint and oral presentation or poster display, as well as a manuscript for publication in the conference proceedings. A number of papers not selected to formally present at the conference will be invited to give a poster presentation. Individuals failing to submit their manuscript/poster project by the March 31, 2004 deadline will forfeit their opportunity to present at the conference.
