Part 150 Committee

Visit the committee page for meeting times, documents, and rosters. There is an upcoming public meeting on airport noise:

Description
The Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority (MWAA), the operator of Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport, is initiating a major update of the Noise Compatibility Study for the Airport. This study, conducted in accordance with the provisions of the Federal Aviation Administration's Part 150 process, is designed to forecast future noise contours at Reagan National and to propose abatement and mitigation actions to reduce community noise impacts.

Because of the importance of this issue to the community, the Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments' (MWCOG) Committee on Noise Abatement and Aviation at National and Dulles Airports (CONAANDA) is partnering with MWAA throughout the process. A Part 150 Study Advisory Committee (Advisory Committee) has been established to assist and advise the Airport Authority in this study. The composition of the Advisory Committee is as follows: 6 Elected Officials -- one each from the District of Columbia, Arlington County, City of Alexandria, Fairfax County, Montgomery County, and Prince George's County; 6 citizens -- one each from the local governments; 1 Airline Pilots Association; 1 Airline Transport Association; 1 MWAA representative; 1 EPA representative; 1 FAA Air Traffic representative; 1 MWAA Advisory Committee representative; 5 Broad Based Organizations.

Particular emphasis was placed on the community participation component of the study. The first step was to solicit public feedback on where to locate ten new noise monitoring stations. Feedback was encouraged. The Advisory Committee will review and comment on all results and recommendations regarding noise monitoring and abatement for Reagan National Airport. The Part 150 update process is expected to take about 18 months. At the conclusion of this study, an updated noise compatibility program for Reagan National Airport will be submitted to FAA for approval. The Advisory Committee expects to meet every 2 to 3 months. Questions regarding the Part 150 Advisory Committee should be directed to Neal Phillips of MWAA staff at 703-417-8745 (e-mail: neal.phillips@mwaa.com).
