Loudoun Water
Water Quality Program
Loudoun Water (formerly Loudoun County Sanitation Authority) established the Broad Run Water Quality Monitoring Program in 1990 to support the Broad Run Water Reclamation Facility (WRF). This is a long-term comprehensive study of stream hydrology and pollutant transport in Broad Run prior to and after construction of the WRF facility. The monitoring program consists of biweekly or monthly grab sampling at a site on Broad Run just upstream of LCSA's O&M building in Ashburn. They are testing suspended sediment, nutrients, dissolved oxygen, coliforms and trace metals. This work is being performed by the Virginia Tech's Occoquan Watershed Monitoring Laboratory located in Manassas Virginia.

Contact: Tom Broderick

Parameters monitored include:
BOD5, COD, COND, COND25, DO , FCOLI, FIELDPH, LABPH, NH3_N, OP, OX_N, PALK, FLOW, HARDNESS, STAGE, TALK, TCOLI, TEMP, TKN, TOC, TP, TSS, TURB
