Current Water Supply and Drought Conditions

part of our Regional Water Supply and Drought Awarenes Response Plan, COG issues monthly drought reports from May - October. We also encourage wise water use throughout the entire year - visit the wise water use campaign website for water conservation tips.

May 2013 - Drought Stage - NORMAL

  • The most recent U.S. Drought Monitor indicates that our region is not experiencing a drought
  • There is normal probability of releases from the Washington metropolitan area's back-up water supply reservoirs for the 2013 summer and fall seasons
  • Streamflows measured at Point of Rocks and Little Falls are below median levels
  • Most of the groundwater monitoring wells report normal to low levels
  • Precipitation levels in the Basin were below normal in April by 1.0 inch
