Lead in Water Information

I live in Fairfax County. How can I find out where my water comes from?

Fairfax County residents are served by several water providers (utilities). The following information applies only to residents or business who obtain their water from a water utility. It does not apply to those who have their own well.

Please follow the steps below in the order shown to help find your water provider.

1. If you receive a water bill directly, it should contain the name of your water provider
2. If you do not receive a water bill, or are otherwise uncertain, please use the following guidance to assist you with reaching your water provider.
3. If you live inside the town limits of Herndon or Vienna, contact
Town of Herndon
Town of Vienna
4. If you live adjacent to the border of the City of Fairfax in Fairfax County, your water provider is most likely the City of Fairfax. Contact:
City of Fairfax
5.

If you live in the McLean area, parts of Tysons Corner, Merrifield, or have a Falls Church mailing address and live in Fairfax County, i.e., generally inside the Beltway and north of Rt. 50 except Pimmit Hills, your water provider is most likely the City of Falls Church. If not, it will be the Fairfax County Water Authority. Contact:
City of Falls Church
Fairfax County Water Authority

6.

If you live anywhere else in Fairfax County not listed above, you are served by the Fairfax County Water Authority. Contact:
Fairfax County Water Authority
