Remarks from the Executive Director

March 15, 2013

Dear Prospective Candidate:

As you consider applying to the Institute for Regional Excellence (IRE), I encourage you to take a look at testimonials from some of the program's graduates.

Take, for example, what one Fairfax County participant had to say about the coursework: "Actual training you can use." Or what an Arlington County manager wrote: "You definitely come out with a regional perspective."

I point to these because they illustrate first-hand what the institute is about: enhancing management skills in a way that is both applicable to the daily decision-making process and useful for collaboration at the regional level. IRE is dedicated to helping individuals reach their own goals as they learn how to better work with neighboring jurisdictions and address issues facing the National Capital Area.

As an institution fully accredited by the National Certified Public Managers® Consortium, we offer the training to help students reach top management positions throughout the metropolitan area. In doing so, the program ensures that the Washington area will have a talented team of leaders to help move the region forward.

I hope that some day soon you will add your own testimonial to let more prospective students know about the benefits of becoming a certified manager. Our growing metropolitan area needs a strong pool of leaders to guide us. I invite you to join them.

Sincerely,

Chuck Bean
