Transportation Preparedness
Emergency Transportation PreparednessFollowing the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001 the TPB and its subcommittees provided support to COG's Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness Task Force and to its successor the National Capital Region Emergency Preparedness Council. A group of M&O professionals was established to prepare the transportation component of the Regional Emergency Coordination Plan (RECP) and to developed an annex to the plan which addresses transportation coordination for evacuations. Today the Emergency Transportation Work Group works together to coordinate the development of an Emergency Transportation and Evacuation Plan, to continue improving the way agencies communicate and coordinate around the region, and to improve the way agencies transmit coherent messages and instructions to the public.
