2021 TPB Officers: Charles Allen, District of Columbia; Pamela Sebesky, City of Manassas; Reuben B. Collins II, Charles County

The National Capital Region Transportation Planning Board (TPB) voted at its December meeting to elect its officers for 2021. District of Columbia Councilmember Charles Allen was named Chair and City of Manassas Vice Mayor Pamela Sebesky and Charles County Board of Commissioners President Reuben B. Collins II were named Vice Chairs.

“I’m honored to serve again as Chair of the Transportation Planning Board for 2021," said Allen. "We can’t solve regional challenges without working together as neighbors. I look forward to working together to plan for an economic recovery and transportation future that ensures equitable access to affordable, sustainable transportation options.”

Allen previously served as TPB Chair in 2018, as second Vice Chair in 2019, and first Vice Chair in 2020. He became a TPB member in 2015.

Sebesky joined the TPB in 2019 and served as second Vice Chair in 2020. Collins joined the TPB in 2019.

Over the last year, the three officers have been involved in the TPB’s regional response to the impact of COVID-19 on transportation, its initiative to improve regional roadway and transit safety, establishing equity as a fundamental part of the board’s work, and much more.

Looking ahead, the TPB will complete much of the work to update its long-range transportation plan, Visualize 2045, under this leadership.

The TPB is the federally designated metropolitan planning organization for metropolitan Washington. Working with local, state, regional, and federal partners, the TPB coordinates future plans, provides data and analysis to decision makers, and manages regional programs to advance safety, land-use coordination, and more. In order to receive federal funding, transportation projects and programs must be included in the TPB’s regional plans. The TPB is housed at and staffed by the Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments (COG).
