Local officials are voicing support for an increased federal return-to-office.

In a letter signed by 23 of the region’s city and county managers to U.S. Office of Management and Budget Director Shalanda Young, leaders on COG's Chief Administrative Officers Committee offered insights into lessons learned as local jurisdictions implemented their own hybrid and flexible work schedules for eligible employees.

“We employ roughly 100,000 outstanding individuals, and the large majority of our employees work in-person on a full-time basis. For those who are eligible to telework, employees typically report to work in-person two to three days a week (not including weekends). We have found that this strikes an appropriate balance and provides the best level of service for taxpayers,” the letter states.

The letter also emphasized the importance of coordination between the federal government and the region’s transit providers to ensure the system is able to meet the needs of commuters.
