TPB's Transit Within Reach Program (TWR), a sister technical assistance program to the Transportation Land-Use Connections and Regional Roadway Safety programs, is accepting applications for a new round of funding. TWR supports design and preliminary engineering projects through short-term consultant services. Eligible projects will have already undergone a local planning process and are ready to move forward.

The FY 2026-2027 application period is open to TPB member jurisdictions. Project applications are due August 8, 2025.

About the program

The region is currently expected to have 225 High-Capacity Transit Stations by 2030, but many of the areas around stations are not conducive to walking and biking. Visualize 2045, the region's current long-range transportation plan, included an initiative that calls on the region to improve pedestrian and bicycle access to transit. TWR acts on this initiative through completion of small yet high-impact projects around Metrorail, commuter rail, bus rapid transit, and multimodal stations. Read more on the history of the program.

Key dates

Application period open through August 8, 2025.
Abstracts (optional) due June 30, 2025. (Abstract period now closed.)
