Executive Director Clark Mercer interviews Tomiwa Olufolabi, Energy Analyst at the Prince George’s County Department of the Environment, and Maurice Simpson, Jr., Senior State Government Affairs Manager at Constellation Energy, for an episode of COG's video series Collaboration in Action.

From electric vehicles and solar panels to 100% biodiesel garbage trucks, the metropolitan Washington region is on the move toward a cleaner, more sustainable future. Through partnerships among local governments, public fleets, and organizations like the Greater Washington Region Clean Cities Coalition (GWRCCC), the region is taking bold steps to expand EV charging infrastructure, electrify fleets, and advance the use of alternative fuels. These efforts are reducing emissions, improving air quality, and accelerating progress toward shared climate goals — proving that collaboration is key to transforming the process of moving people and goods.

In this episode, COG Executive Director Clark Mercer speaks with Tomiwa Olufolabi, Energy Analyst at the Prince George’s County Department of the Environment, Maurice Simpson, Jr., Senior State Government Affairs Manager at Constellation Energy, and Jeff King, Director of Climate, Energy, and Air Programs at COG, to discuss how rooftop and carport solar installations are making clean energy more accessible across the region. Antoine Thompson, CEO and Executive Director of GWRCCC, also talks about expanding EV infrastructure and electrifying public fleets, and Bill Griffiths, Fleet Administrator for the DC Department of Public Works, explains how DC is using 100% biodiesel garbage trucks to cut emissions now while planning for an even cleaner future.
