The Transportation Planning Board (TPB) has developed a comprehensive summary of transportation needs for the next six years. The Board is working to coordinate efforts at the federal, state, regional and local levels to help prepare roadways and transit systems for projected growth of more than 30 % over the next 25 years.

At a joint press conference, the Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments (COG) and the Greater Washington Board of Trade (BOT) announced a new effort to encourage 50,000 more commuters to telecommute by 2005.
