COG recognizes that social media and social networking sites can provide valuable outreach to the community and provide another platform for COG’s programs and mission. In regards to comments made on social media and social networking sites, COG's Comments Policy is as follows: "Opinions expressed herein do not reflect the opinions of the Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments but are postings of public opinion. We encourage you to submit your questions, comments, and concerns, but please note that this is a moderated on-line discussion site and is not a public forum. Once posted, COG reserves the right to delete submissions that contain vulgar language; personal attacks of any kind; advocate illegal activity; promote particular services, products, or political organizations; or are clearly off topic from the discussion."
COG's official blog is The Yardstick on RegionForward.org. The blog takes its name from our focus on measuring progress toward the goals in Region Forward, a vision for a more accessible, sustainable, prosperous, and livable region. It aims to keep the conversation about the region's challenges and goals fresh with regular posts on the news, relevant topics, and blogs by guest officials and experts.
COG maintains a Vimeo page where it posts videos from some events as well as media stories featuring COG officials and staff.
Before COG began blogging and posting on social media, podcasts were a way for COG members and staff to connect with the public on a variety of topics important to the National Capital Region. Click below for archived podcasts.
If you have any questions concerning social media, blogs, video or podcasts, please contact public affairs staff directly.
