Census 2010 Participation Rates
As of April 27, the Census Bureau has reported that 72 percent of households have participated in the 2010 Census by mail -- the same rate achieved in Census 2000. Now, census takers begin the task of going door-to-door to obtain census responses in person. Open your door to the census taker -- we can't move forward until you give your answers back!

Regional Overview on Census 2010
COG has been hosting and helping coordinate meetings for U.S. Census Bureau officials and area elected officials to encourage participation throughout the District of Columbia, suburban Maryland and Northern Virginia. Urban communities have been prone to undercounts in the past, so COG and its local governments are working with their federal partners to conduct a more complete count in 2010. At these COG/Census events, officials have reminded residents that the Census guides key policy decisions, impacts their representation in Congress, and influences billions of dollars in government services and investments in transportation improvements, hospitals and schools. COG has also created this page to provide links to national, state and local Census offices and additional resources.
COG uses Census data on a variety of reports and studies that inform local governments and the public on our growing and changing region.
