COG and Freddie Mac to Honor Outstanding Area Foster Parents at May 31 Gala

Nearly 6,000 children are in foster care on any given day in the metropolitan Washington area. Foster parents are loving people who give their hearts and homes to children. In honor of the region’s foster parents, the Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments and the Freddie Mac Foundation (sponsors of the “Wednesday’s Child” adoption program) are presenting a gala evening of awards, dinner, and entertainment to recognize those persons who provide nurturing and guidance to children in need.


WHO: Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments Executive Director David Robertson, Freddie Mac Foundation President and CEO Maxine Baker, nine foster parent awardees, and elected officials from around the region.

WHAT: “Foster Parents Are A Work of Heart Gala,” a celebration of and awards ceremony for  the region’s foster parents.

WHEN: Saturday, May 31, 2003  7:00 p.m. – Midnight
