Mount Rainier set for makeover

DCMud has a great post today on the Maryland city of Mount Rainier and its need for redevelopment. Situated just north of the D.C. boundary local officials hope this former “streetcar suburb” can become a vibrant center of culture and commerce by following many of the principles outlined in Region Forward.

Reintroducing the streetcar adding a MARC station making the city bike and ped friendly and in bringing retail and restaurant development are some of the steps planners hope will revitalize Mount Rainier.
