DESCRIPTION: Greetings from the Marine Corps National Capital Region Command Antiterrorism/Force Protection Staff (MCNCRC AT/FP). You are invited to attend our quarterly seminar on 20 July 2007 at Marine Corps Base Quantico, VA â€" Federal Response to a Catastrophic Event in the NCR. Please feel free to extend this invitation to others as you deem appropriate.
This quarter, MCNCRC’s seminar will focus on an overview of a Federal Response to a Catastrophic Event in the NCR. MCNCRC will host speakers from:
• Department of Homeland Security Incident Management Planning Team
• Federal Emergency Management Agency Region III
• Department of Homeland Security’s Office of National Capital Region Coordination
• Joint Forces Headquarters- National Capital Region Command (J-3) Joint Operations.
Speakers will provide approximately one hour presentations speaking in the context of a Federal Response to a Catastrophic Event in the NCR; providing a background on their organization, how they would respond to the NCR, how they interact with other organizations, and answer questions and take input from state and local response organizations concerning the numerous challenges associated with a large federal response to a "local" emergency.

Background:
MCNCRC AT/FP Staff hosts quarterly Professional Military Educational seminars in order to facilitate its mission of planning and coordinating emergency response within the NCR and coordinating military assistance to DoD, federal, state, and local authorities.
The MCNCRC quarterly Professional Military Educational seminar series is designed and conducted in the spirit of Homeland Security Presidential Directive/HSPD-5, by fostering a collaborative environment for interagency and supporting organizations with the common goal of Homeland Security/Homeland Defense. According to HSPD-5, the objective of the United States Government is to ensure that all levels of government across the Nation have the capability to work efficiently and effectively together, using a national approach to domestic incident management and establishing appropriate relationships and mechanisms for cooperation and coordination between departments.
