U) Upcoming Terrorism Training from FBI Washington Field Office JTTF

During September 14-16, 2009, The Washington Field Office, Joint Terrorism Task Force, will be providing a training course titled "Terrorism Trends". This course is being offered in coordination with the Northern Virginia Criminal Justice Training Academy (NVCJTA) in Ashburn, VA. The Terrorism Trends course has been offered free of charge to Local, State and Federal Law Enforcement officers and agents since 2001. This course will include topics covering Domestic Terrorism (Right wing , Left wing and Special interest groups), International Terrorism (Radical Islamic Fundamentalist groups), Officer Safety issues dealing with extremist groups or lone wolf terrorist, document fraud identification, Arabic cultural issues and naming, and evaluation of past terrorist attacks around the globe. Guest speakers will include Cpt. Kirk Lippold, Mr. Roy Hallums, and FBI ASAC George Piro. Captian Lippold was the Captain of the USS Cole on the fateful day of October 12, 2000 when it was attacked by Al Qaeda in Aden harbor, Yemen. Mr. Roy Hallums was held hostage by Muslim Extremists for 311 days before he was rescued by the US Military based on intelligence gathered on the ground in Iraq. FBI Assistant Special Agent in Charge George Piro conducted face to face interviews with Saddam Hussein in Iraq.
