    Washington DC-MD-VA 2015 Ozone NAAQS Marginal Nonattainment Area Redesignation Request and Maintenance Plan

    The District of Columbia, the State of Maryland, and the Commonwealth of Virginia request that the United States Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA) redesignate the Washington DC-MD-VA 2015 ozone National Ambient Air Quality Standard (NAAQS) moderate nonattainment area to attainment for this standard pursuant to the provisions under § 107 of the federal Clean Air Act (CAA).

    Pathways to Removing Obstacles to Housing (PRO Housing) Action Plan

    In 2024, COG was awarded a $3.5 million Pathways to Remove Obstacles to Housing (PRO Housing) grant from the U.S. Housing of Urban Development. To expand housing supply, PRO Housing incentivizes housing-forward actions to further develop, evaluate, and implement housing policy plans; address restrictive zoning or land use; improve housing strategies; and facilitate affordable housing production and preservation.

    COG FARM Local Food Procurement Challenge Factsheet

    The Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments (COG) Food and Agriculture Regional Member (FARM) Policy Committee launched the Local Food Procurement Challenge (“the Challenge”) on December 5th, 2025. The Challenge invites member jurisdictions to strategically shift a portion of their existing food budgets toward locally and regionally grown and produced foods, advancing economic resilience, food security, environmental stewardship, and regional agricultural vitality.
