2020 TPB Officers Pamela Sebesky, Kelly Russell, and Charles Allen

The National Capital Region Transportation Planning Board (TPB) voted at its December meeting to elect its officers for 2020 – City of Frederick Alderman Kelly Russell as TPB Chair and District of Columbia Councilmember Charles Allen and City of Manassas Vice Mayor Pamela Sebesky as TPB Vice Chairs.

Russell joined the TPB in 2014 and was first Vice Chair in 2019. Allen was second Vice Chair in 2019, TPB Chair in 2018, and first became a board member in 2015. Sebesky joined the TPB in 2019.

Over the last year, the three officers have been involved in the TPB’s initiative to improve roadway safety and reduce bicycle and pedestrian fatalities across the region. They have also worked to advance the Visualize 2045 aspirational initiatives established by the board in 2018.

“The TPB has accomplished a lot over the past year, but there is still more work to be done to ensure we reach our transportation goals,” said Russell. “Looking ahead to 2020, we will continue to address some of the region’s biggest transportation challenges to meet the accessibility and mobility needs of our residents now and in the future.”

The TPB is the federally designated metropolitan planning organization for metropolitan Washington. Working with local, state, regional, and federal partners, the TPB coordinates future plans, provides data and analysis to decision makers, and manages regional programs to advance safety, land-use coordination, and more. In order to receive federal funding, transportation projects and programs must be included in the TPB’s regional plans. The TPB is housed at and staffed by the Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments (COG).
