Commuter Connections offers new resources for area employees during transition back to the workplace

Jun 16, 2020

As the metropolitan Washington region continues to gradually reopen following months of restrictions put in place to slow the spread of COVID-19, Commuter Connections has launched a new information clearinghouse on its website to support area employees and employers during the transition back to the workplace.

The Commute with Confidence clearinghouse offers COVID-19 related safety tips and recommendations to commuters on the use of public transit, carpools, vanpools, biking, walking, and driving alone.

“We know that some area employees do not have the option to telework and want to reassess their commutes based on their own preferences or changes in the services available to them,” said Commuter Connections Director Nicholas Ramfos. “Our new clearinghouse will help people navigate the new commuting landscape by providing them with the information they need to plan ahead and consider their options during these unusual times.”

The clearinghouse features a list of links to area public transit COVID-19 web pages and information on how transportation providers are working to make shared commuting as safe as possible, a new employer-based ridematching system developed for people seeking to commute with co-workers, as well as resources on telecommuting and flexible work schedules. The page also highlights additional commuter resources through Commuter Connections, such as Guaranteed Ride Home, and the incenTrip and CarpoolNow mobile apps.
