COG is supported by financial contributions from its member governments, federal and state grants and contracts, and donations from foundations and the private sector.
The Work Program and Budget provides an overview of COG's work as well as its revenues sources and expenditures. In addition, COG provides information on each jurisdiction's member dues and fees as well as how they are used (for example, leveraging federally sourced funds). COG also engages an independent certified public accounting firm to conduct an annual fiscal year-end audit.
