Mar 2, 2006

Linda Mathes, CEO of the Red Cross of the National Capital Area and a member of COG's Emergency Preparedness Council, shared preparedness tips with schoolchildren, while participating in Read Across America Day at Hybla Valley Elementary School in Alexandria, VA.

Members of COG’s Emergency Preparedness Council (EPC) continue to coordinate awareness efforts across the region and distribute helpful information to the public.

The EPC is a large group of stakeholders working on the region’s long-range homeland security planning.  It includes elected officials from local jurisdictions, the COG Executive Director, state emergency management, homeland security, and transportation officials, and stakeholders from the federal, private and non-profit sectors, such as the Red Cross.
