With a bright smile and reserved demeanor, Gevonta, or “G” as he’s affectionately called by those close to him, is as every bit friendly and outgoing as he is serious. A sophomore in high school, Gevonta already knows that his calling in life is to work for a police force. Barbara Harrison met with Gevonta at the City of Alexandria Police Department, and he was submerged in the police officer experience- getting to learn first-hand all about police cruisers, motorcycles, and even meeting “Rocco”, a very special four-legged member of the K9 unit.
Despite some learning disabilities, Gevonta loves going to class and does his best at school. At his taping, Gevonta showed exactly why he is adored by his peers and teachers alike. While talking to the officers, Gevonta was an avid learner and listened intently to everything the police officers had to teach him. Gevonta even made a great impression on Chief Cook, the City of Alexandria’s Police Chief!
Gevonta is polite young man that is determined to succeed. With his positive attitude and dedication, he has the skills to accomplish anything he sets his mind to. Gevonta’s social workers are looking for a licensed single parent or couple that will encourage his various interests and aspirations, and provide Gevonta with a loving and forever home.
