Lashard has a great smile! He is eager to share it with everyone he meets! If only this friendly fellow had the ability to utter the words we know he would like to say, but his caretakers say Lashard communicates in several other ways.
Lashard entered foster care four years ago. He has two siblings who were adopted, and despite efforts made by the social work team, they do not have a relationship with Lashard. Because of Lashard’s disabilities, being wheelchair-bound, and mainly non-verbal, he attends a school that can provide individualized support and therapy.
For his Wednesday's Child segment, Barbara Harrison met Lashard at his placement. She learned just how much he is loved there, and how eager they are to help Lashard transition to a permanent home. The forever family that adopts Lashard will have the support of his current team of foster parents and therapists who want the best for this little boy they have grown to love.
